Hittin' the Slopes -- Winter ain't all bad.

After a 14-year hiatus, I went skiing at Winter Park this Saturday with my mom. And surprisingly, I didn't do half-bad for my third-time skiing. I only wiped out once or thrice when I was trying to think about the ski instructors' words of advice -- I was better just not thinking about anything and just trying to imitate the better skiers. So finally I can qualify as a true Coloradoan, no more ignomy when someone from the other 49 asks about whether I am "one with the mountain." (I'm thinking of conquering the rock wall at my gym just to be double sure.) I get a buzz just being up there in the Rockies at this time of the year, which is partly oxygen deficiency but mostly the fresh air and spectacular views. I think I'm going to go on a week day if I go once or twice more this season, just so I can be a speed demon without running anyone over. (Not too mention it's embarassing to see three year-olds skiing better than me, best to have deserted slopes.) Hear me oh Winter world, I will be king of the bunny hill yet! Ah, incidentally, I'm trying to pretend I'm still on vacation. I figure the more I can hide it from myself the better. The exploits need not cease now that I am attached to a computer for 40 odd hours a week... This whole concept of fun is revolutionary.
